We proudly present the results of Sólin 2024 ! The Icelandic Young Environmentalists' grading for the upcoming Alþingi parliamentary election.
In 2021 we reviewed the political parties' environmental policies to help the public make informed voting decisions. The project was a great success and has therefore been repeated - this time in just three weeks !!
Check out the full results:
Sólin 2024 evaluates the parties' policies and election campaigns in three interconnected categories: Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Circular Society. The goal of the project is to:
...bring environmentalism on the agenda in the upcoming election.
...keep parties accountable and to encourage the them to constantly improve their environmental policies.
...educate the public.
...raise young voices in the debate about environmentalism.
The methodology of Sólin was shaped before the parliamentary election in 2021 and consequently published in a book available online; "Sólin, archive and toolkit".
The project is led by The Icelandic Young Environmentalist and produced with generous contributions from volunteers and specialists in the fields. The criterion is the product of that collective work in 2021, now re-used//re-cycled for the 2024 election. The criterion consists of a total of 100 points, divided into three chapters: Climate Action (40 points), Nature Conservation (30 points), and Circular Society (30 points). The full criterion, with arguments and referances, is available here.
We sincerely hope that with the help of Sólin, young and old, will be able to make an informed decision before voting next Saturday.
